Shu Arakawa

His works are based on the concept of coexistence and co-prosperity with nature, and are painted on a grand scale full of dynamism, including dragons, horses, and phoenixes. His unique and unique method of painting without using a brush is unique to Japan, and his innovative motifs have captivated many people. On the TV program Tochigiu La La in October 2020, he demonstrated a sumi-e performance using a unique method, showing a sense of dynamism that cannot be expressed with a brush. At the gallery Artisans Kita-Kamakura, which I applied to in September 2020, the two works I submitted won 1st and 2nd place, with a huge difference between them and 3rd place. He has produced a series of collaborative works with famous contemporary artists, calligraphers, and ink painters. We are developing the world’s first tea and ink painting tie-up products, as well as traditional culture lanterns and ink painting tie-up products. At the event-type art solo exhibition that deviated from common sense, a collaboration event with famous investor and former HSBC Securities CEO Kenichi Tatsuzawa, held in Tokyo in July 2023 and Osaka in September 2023, 40 works were sold in two days. He was selected to join the overseas artist group FTP (Freedom Tapestry Project), which spreads the concept of free art to the world, and has disseminated his work overseas.

He has received high praise both domestically and internationally, and in June 2022, he became the world’s first sumi-e artist to have his work permanently exhibited at the Sant Pau Hospital, a world heritage site in Spain. Around the same time, his work was exhibited at the United Nations UNESCO’s Miro Hall, its headquarters in Paris. Books and catalogs featuring his works have been distributed to all major mass retailers. It will also be available as an e-book worldwide. The sumi-e work Suzaku Ranbu was published in the academic textbook The Legacy of Japanese Art” along with Van Gogh’s work, and is stored in famous places such as national libraries, embassies, art museums, major art universities, NHK, and Hotel New Otani in 47 prefectures. His activities were recognized by the Thai Royal Palace, and he became the first Japanese ink painter to receive the Majesty King Charity Award. Collaboration/tie-up
