The dragon’s eyes, hands, and dragon ball are all drawn with the invisible “Garyu Tenshi” (a dragon’s eyes), and the dragon instantly flies into the sky.

The dragon god Tiamat can hear the voice of her heart. She stirs up dust and soars from the earth to the sky, carrying with her the wishes of others.

Ziz is a large Jewish bird. It is said to be a gigantic three-headed monster along with Leviathan and Behemoth that appear in the Old Testament (Book of Job), but Ziz itself does not appear in the Old Testament.

Leviathan symbolizes the sea, Behemoth the land, and Ziz the sky. It is a gigantic bird whose head reaches up to a point when it stands on the ground, and when it spreads its wings it covers even the sun.

SHU Arakawa’s sumi-e works also include the image of a phoenix, a symbol of peace.

This work was created imagining a time when the environment was not yet destroyed.
